Tao Fung Spiritual Formation Center

Given the complexity and speed of the changes experienced in today’s world, the poet who wrote about there being a time for all things (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8) might well have penned this additional line: “There is a time to be busy, active and involved, but also a time to slow down, pause, reflect, and pray.”

There is a great need in this busy fragmented world for retreat, for pause, for personal and spiritual reflection. There is a need for the people of God to grow in faith and life and to receive strength for the tasks ahead.

The “Tao Fong Spiritual Formation Institute” (TFSFI), a joint effort by Tao Fong Shan Christian Centre (TFSCC) and LTS, located on Tao Fong Shan, seeks to meet this need by providing both programs and place for such nurturing. The two partners share a vision of nurturing Christian leaders and lay people in their deeper relationship with God through study and prayer. As an academic institution, “LTS seeks to develop faithful servants of God’s Word who are characterized by spiritual maturity, depth of knowledge, a heart for pastoral ministry, enthusiasm in mission...” TFSCC, a Centre for spirituality, art and dialogue, endeavors to foster Chinese Christian spirituality by providing spiritual direction training to ministers and church workers.

TFSCC and LTS, both located on Tao Fong Shan (which can be translated into English as “The Mountain of the Wind of Logos”), have a historical relationship and share a vision in spirituality. The “Tao Fong Spiritual Formation Institute” comes into being so as to actualize the vision and goals of both LTS and TFSCC. It is hoped that all who come to study and pray on Tao Fong Shan will find life in the Word and the Spirit. Further information concerning the structure and programs of the Institute may be
