ACCOMMODATIONS

LTS has three types of housing—single rooms, couple’s rooms (for married couples, consisting of one room and a bathroom), and family quarters (for couples with children, consisting of a combined living and dining room, kitchen and bathroom). The priorities for the assignment of housing are as follows:
1. LTS students continuing in their original program
2. International students who apply by the semester deadline
3. First year local students who apply by the semester deadline and on a “first come, first served” basic.
4. Part-time students

HEALTH INSURANCE

LTS requires all international students to be enrolled in a medical insurance plan prior to arrival. LTS does not provide learners with such medical insurance. It is the responsibility of the learner or his or her sending or supporting institution to bear the cost of such medical insurance either purchased in the country of origin or in Hong Kong.

LAUNDRY FACILITIES

The Fellowship Room in each dormitory as well as the second floor of the lower dorm have laundry facilities equipped with a token-operated automatic washer and dryer, as well as an ironing board and iron.

MAIL SERVICES

Stamps are available for purchase from a student representative. Outgoing mail is delivered from the office to the Shatin post office regularly. Incoming mail is placed in the dining hall.

TRANSPORTATION

During school days there is a shuttle bus running between the campus and the Tai Wai KCR station on a schedule that includes a trip before and after each class for the convenience of learners who attend the class. The shuttle is free for the resident students and their direct family members. However, there is a nominal charge for commuting students and other persons. Tickets can be purchased in the Main Office.

PARKING

LTS has sufficient parking space for commuters who want to drive to classes. However, overnight parking needs permission from the main office.

SECURITY

Although the LTS campus is quite safe, there is no foolproof way of preventing loss of property through theft or vandalism. Therefore it is imperative that all members of the LTS community contribute by being alert to the safety and security of the campus, and promptly reporting any suspicious circumstances to the Director of Administration. LTS is not responsible for personal property, including vehicles and motorcycles parked on campus. Items found on the campus will be kept in the lost and found in the Office. Unclaimed items will be disposed of after 30 days.

STUDENT ID CARD

All students can apply for an LTS Student Identification Card. Students should submit one passport photo on the Fall Semester Registration Day. It will be valid for one year. If a replacement is required for any reason during the year, it will cost HK$20. For administrative reasons, we must set a deadline (which will be announced each year) after which an extra charge will be imposed.

COMPUTER ACCESS

LTS provides access to computers with word-processing, e-mail and the Internet in the Library. We are planning to have Internet access in every dormitory room around 2004.

COMMUNICATIONS FROM LTS

To save postage and increase the speed of delivery, the Seminary does not mail material to learners’ home addresses during school terms. Instead, relevant notices are placed in the mailboxes in the dining hall and the office. General communications are posted on the notice boards located outside the dining hall. The students are highly encouraged to check the LTS website (www.lts.edu) daily during the semester.

LOCKER

Application for the assignment of a locker in the dining hall should be made through the Main Office.

PERSONAL TELEPHONE CALLS AND FAXES

There are a courtesy telephones from which local calls can be made in the dining hall and the fellowship lounges in the upper and lower dormitories. A pay telephone is located outside the dining hall that accepts cards for local and international calls. Regrettably, the office cannot send faxes or make long-distance calls on behalf of students and only in emergencies will it accept telephone messages or receive faxes for
students.
