Letter from the President

September 15, 2003

Dear friends of LTS,

Shalom! I write this letter to you today because you are a supporter of LTS and our ministry of Christian Education, and your interest in training students to become servants of God. We appreciate your concern to continue to develop solid theological programs, especially during this time of economic recession in Hong Kong today.
God keeps us in his care; and the celebration of our 90th Anniversary this year bears witness to God’s abundant grace since the present campus was opened in 1992. Although we have faced many stormy times over the past ten years, from peeling paint to water leaks, we have also seen the new era of information technology take root and flourish in the seminary. Our school is expanding in many ways, and for this reason our old facilities are no longer sufficient to support the needs of our students, the new “e-campus” communication demands, and the many other requirements of a modern theological institution. We estimate that the renewal of our campus during this 90th Anniversary year will cost approximately HK$3.5 million.
In addition to the plans for renovation of the physical plant mentioned above , our future plan is provide, over the next ten years, outstanding training and education for the students throughout the region: Hong Kong, Mainland China and the Mekong River Region countries. We also expect that we can increase the size of our facilities by building two new buildings: a dormitory and lecture rooms. God has given us an unexpected abundance of new student, with our enrollment now at 260 (with an original capacity of 300). We have 13 faculty offices, but these are not able to meet the needs of our 28 teachers. Our library can store about 100,000 books, but our collection has already reached 70,000 books. For these significant reasons, we hope that you will pray for and work toward the attainment of our vision: excellent facilities to train our students and to support our churches.
The 2003 fundraising “Walk for the Future” is one of significant events of the 90th Anniversary Celebration; and our target is HK$1.2 Million.
Please confirm your reservation and come to join our walk for fundraising on October 19, 2003. If you have any inquiries, or would like to have extra sponsorship forms, please call Ms. Lee (2691 1520) / Mr. Lee (2684 3207), or see our web-site (www.lts.edu).

Emmanuel!
