APPLICATION
FOR ADMISSION
1. All applicants for admission should fill out and send in their application
forms before the entrance examinations, which are listed in the catalogue or
announced in advance. The deadline for sending in applications by applicants
outside of Hong Kong is, however, March 15th. Applicants from outside Hong Kong
must be responsible for obtaining a Student Visa from the Hong Kong Immigration
Department prior to arrival in Hong Kong (the immigration regulations can be
found on the LTS web-site). This process
may take up to four months. Within those deadlines, the following documents
should be sent to the LTS Registrar.
a. The LTS Student Application form - duly completed.
b. The LTS Medical Examination form - duly completed and signed (by a registered
medical doctor).
c. Two recent, front-view, passport-sized photos.
d. Graduation certificates/diplomas and transcripts of grades from secondary
and postsecondary education.
e. Letters of Recommendation from the following responsible persons for the
different degrees: The Recommendation Letters must be sent by the referees directly
to LTS.
i. For B.Th., B.R.E., M.Div., S.T.M., Dip.T.S., and M.A. degrees:
• from the minister of the applicant's congregation (preferably the minister-incharge).
This letter should include the name, position and address of the referee and
the length and nature of the referee's relationship with the applicant. It should
specifically comment upon the applicant’s:
(a) character and personality,
(b) emotional stability,
(c) theological and faith commitments,
(d) ability to work with and learn from other members of the church
(e) potential for ministry.
• from a person who knows the applicant well through work, church or community
association. This letter should include the name, position and address of the
referee and the length and nature of the referee's relationship with the applicant.
It should comment upon the applicant’s:
(a) character and personality,
(b) emotional stability,
(c) theological and faith commitments,
(d) ability to work with others of different backgrounds
(e) potential for ministry.
ii. For the D.Min., M.Th. and D.Th. degrees:
• the seminary will provide Letter of Recommendation forms to applicants
for these programs which should be completed and returned by the referees.
f. An autobiographical sketch (with special emphasis on the applicant's calling,
spiritual experience, reasons for studying theology and future plans).
g. Letter of verification of financial status (required only of those who are
applying for scholarship aid).
h. The psychological test from an LTS assigned institution. The results will
be sent to LTS directly.
i. Application fee of HK$150
j. Entrance Examination fee of HK$200
k. Psychological Test fee of HK$300
2. Applications for evening extension courses shall be made to the Director
for Theological Education by Extension or as advertised for the various centers
or courses.
